Who are the moderators for the Trump-Harris debate

The big picture: Muir and Davis are tasked with introducing the candidates at the start of the debate and seeking to "enforce timing agreements and ensure a civilized discussion," per ABC's debate rules.

• After a period of haggling over whether the microphones would be kept hot or muted during an opponent's turn, the campaigns ultimately agreed that a candidate's mic would only be on during their turn to speak.
• The Harris campaign had pushed to have both candidates' mics remain live throughout the debate.

David Muir

Muir, 50, is the anchor and managing editor of ABC News' "World News Tonight" and has worked at the network since 2003.

• Muir is no stranger to presidential interviews, having interviewed President Biden in Normandy earlier this year. He was also the first network anchor to interview Trump in the White House back in January 2017.
• Between the 2016 and 2020 presidential elections, Muir helped moderate both Republican and Democratic presidential primary debates.

Linsey Davis

Davis, 46, is the anchor of the evening newscast "ABC News Live Prime" and "World News Tonight" on Sundays. She has worked at the network since 2007.

• Davis interviewed Harris last year and previously interviewed former Vice President Mike Pence and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.
• Davis joined Muir to help moderate two Democratic presidential primary debates, in September 2019 and February 2020.
