Pumpkin spice returns to Dunkin' Wednesday, the chain's latest fall menu launch in seven years.
Why it matters: The late arrival comes six days after Starbucks' earliest PSL debut and is a reversal from the trend of seasonal products launching early.

The big picture: Dunkin's fall menu includes the Pumpkin Spice Signature Latte, Pumpkin Cake Donut, Munchkins donut hole treats, along with the Pumpkin Muffin.
- It's joined by the new Almond Spice Coffee, which Dunkin' says has "sweet pumpkin and toasted almond flavors and almond milk."
- Non-pumpkin fall items include an Apple Cider Donut, the Maple Sugar Bacon Breakfast Sandwich and Loaded Hash Browns.
- The brand also unveiled the new Dunkalatte, the brand's first-ever coffee milk latte that it says "sips like a latte and tastes like a melty milkshake."
Dunkin' $6 meal deal debuts
Driving the news: Along with its fall menu, Dunkin' introduced a $6 meal deal Wednesday, the latest brand to enter the ongoing fast-food value wars.
- The limited-time deal includes a bacon, egg and cheese sandwich, hash browns, and a medium hot or iced coffee.
Other restaurants promoting value meals or special offers include McDonald's, Burger King, Taco Bell, Wendy's, Checkers, Sonic and Subway.
Pumpkin spice season 2024
Between the lines: The dates of the season change every year but products have been available for several weeks at grocery stores.
- Among the pumpkin items Axios spotted in stores, Perfect Bar pumpkin spice flavor, Premier Protein pumpkin protein shakes, and a large assortment of pumpkin yogurt, coffee creamers and beer.
What's next: Some companies are waiting until September to release their pumpkin products.
- Trader Joe's usually releases its massive pumpkin selection in early to mid-September.
- Häagen-Dazs Shops said its pumpkin dessert lineup and new Pumpkin Spice Dazzler will be available Sept. 1 through Nov. 14.
