Manhattan DA defers to judge on rescheduling Trump's hush money sentence

• In the Friday letter, District Attorney Alvin Bragg's office said the sentence should also come "without unreasonable delay."

• Trump is scheduled to be sentenced on Sept. 18 for his conviction on 34 felony counts over falsifying business records in connection with a hush money payment to adult film actress Stormy Daniels over an alleged sexual encounter.
• Merchan is also scheduled to issue a second ruling — scheduled for Sept. 16 — regarding whether Trump's guilty verdict is immune under the Supreme Court's recent ruling on presidential immunity.

Zoom in: Bragg's office said "there are strong reasons" why Trump's team shouldn't be able to appeal trial evidence based on the SCOTUS decision.

• The "Defendant's apparent insinuation that state prosecutors are incapable of applying federal constitutional law is fundamentally flawed, given that the People and this Court protect and apply federal constitutional rights every day," the letter said.
