Biden expected to meet Netanyahu in D.C. this month: White House official

What they're saying: "President Biden has known Prime Minister Netanyahu for three decades. They will likely see each other when the prime minister is here over the course of that week," a White House official told Axios.

Driving the news: Netanyahu is expected to arrive in Washington in three weeks to give a speech to Congress on July 24.

• A date for the meeting between the two leaders hasn't been set yet. CNN first reported that Biden is expected to meet Netanyahu.

The big picture: It will be Netanyahu's first trip abroad since the Oct. 7 Hamas attack on Israel and his first meeting with Biden since the president visited Israel 10 days after the attack.

• Netanyahu will speak to Congress in the middle of the presidential election campaign and as Biden is under intense criticism for his performance during the presidential debate in June that has prompted calls for him to drop out of the race.
• Some of Biden's advisers are highly critical of Netanyahu and many House and Senate Democrats have said they plan to boycott his speech.
