Ex-Trump White House adviser Steve Bannon arrived at a federal prison in Connecticut on Monday to begin serving his four-month sentence on contempt of Congress charges, per multiple outlets.

Why it matters: Bannon is the latest Trump ally to serve a prison sentence, after the Supreme Court declined his emergency appeal last week.

Catch up quick: Bannon was convicted of two counts of contempt of Congress in July 2022 for refusing to comply with a subpoena issued by the Jan. 6 select committee investigating the Capitol riot.

While a judge initially allowed Bannon to remain out of prison pending appeal, a federal appeals court upheld his conviction in May, paving the way for him to begin serving his sentence.

State of play: In an interview that aired Sunday on ABC News, Bannon vowed to continue his appeal and characterized himself as a "political prisoner."

Bannon, who has repeatedly made vague threats of "retribution" for the Jan. 6 probe and his conviction, told ABC News that if his prison sentence helps "delegitimize" the Jan. 6 select committee then it would be "worth it."
Bannon also reiterated previous threats that former President Trump's critics would be "investigated" if Trump wins a second term.
