David Urban, one of the most prominent pro-Trump voices on cable news, is becoming of counsel to Torridon Law, a growing firm led by former Trump officials Bill Barr and Pat Cipollone, plus Ted Ullyot.
- Urban — a CNN senior political commentator, and a force in helping former President Trump win Pennsylvania — will remain a managing director at BGR Group, founded by Haley Barbour and Ed Rogers.
Why it matters: Torridon Law aims to be a new go-to shop on regulatory, legislative and other government matters.
What they're saying: Barr said in the announcement: "David Urban's skills as a seasoned counselor and problem-solver are legendary in Washington and nationally, and we are delighted he is joining us."
The firm also announced John Ullyot, formerly a National Security Council official in the Trump administration, is joining Torridon Group, the firm's strategic consulting arm, as a senior adviser.
- Barr said: "John Ullyot will further expand Torridon Group's offerings based on his wealth of experience in national security matters, strategic communications and issues management."
Last month, Paul Cappuccio, who has known Barr for over 30 years, joined Torridon as a partner and member of the firm's management committee.
- Cappuccio is a former senior Justice Department official, litigation partner at Kirkland & Ellis, and general counsel at America Online and Time Warner. He also has been a senior executive at start-ups.
