Patrick Kennedy endorses Biden over Robert Kennedy Jr.

• Kennedy is the latest member to endorse Biden. Over a dozen of his family members endorsed the president last month.
• Kerry Kennedy, Robert Kennedy Jr.'s sister, said "President Biden has been a champion for all the rights and freedoms that my father and uncles stood for."

What he's saying: Patrick Kennedy applauded Biden's efforts to support mental health and addiction in the U.S. while appearing on CNN's "State of the Union."

• "So there is no other choice than Joe Biden. If you care about this addiction crisis and this mental health crisis, Joe Biden is your candidate," he said.
• CNN anchor Dana Bash said that Kennedy's response sounded like an endorsement, prompting Kennedy to say "of course it is."

• "He's the best, and he knows this issue, as you know, it's personally affected him, and I think that every American can relate to what it's like for Joe Biden because we've all had similar circumstances," he said.
• Kennedy also said he is worried former President Trump will be re-elected and urged voters to "vote for democracy over autocracy."

Kennedy's "State of the Union" appearance also promoted his new book, Profiles in Mental Health Courage.
