Trump says he wants meeting with Schumer on immigration "ASAP"

President Trump tweeted Sunday night that he wants to set up a meeting on immigration with Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) "ASAP."

Driving the news: Schumer tweeted after touring border detention facilities with other senators in Texas on Friday that the conditions he saw for immigrants were "unbearable, inhumane, heartbreaking."

  • Schumer said lawmakers must pass the Democrats' Stop Cruelty to Migrant Children Act, which would end family separations and set minimum health and safety standards at Border Patrol Stations, among other measures.
