1 big thing: ✨ Wells Fargo Center gets a rebrand
The Wells Fargo Center will get rebranded as Xfinity Mobile Arena this fall.
Why it matters: Sixers and Flyers fans have walked under the South Philly arena's yellow-and-red logo since 2010. But the new splash of purple will also bring big changes.
Driving the news: Philly's media and tech giant Comcast Corp. — which operates Xfinity as its residential cable, internet and telephone business — will own the naming rights to the arena starting Sept. 1.
- The deal, announced Tuesday, runs through the 2030-31 season.
- Crews will start removing Wells Fargo signs this summer.
💵 A Spectacor spokesperson declined to reveal how much Comcast Corp. is paying for the naming rights.
The intrigue: Xfinity also holds the naming rights to the popular sports bar in the stadium complex, Xfinity Live!, which is in the midst of its own redesign.
🛜 What to expect: As part of the deal, Xfinity Mobile will offer new WiFi capabilities to the arena, which Xfinity customers can use for free.
- That includes accessing the company's WiFi PowerBoost feature.
- The Xfinity name will also be splashed across the arena's roof.

Catch up quick: The deal comes after arena owner Comcast Spectacor, the company's sports and entertainment arm, buried the hatchet with Sixers owner Harris Blitzer Sports & Entertainment following years of acrimony.
- The pair announced plans in January to replace the arena by 2031 — a pivot for the 76ers owner following a yearslong push to build a new arena in Center City.
- Comcast will also own the naming rights to the new South Philly arena, per Spectacor and Harris Entertainment.
Worth noting: Last year, Comcast Spectacor wrapped up a $400 million redesign of the 1990s-era arena.
Meanwhile, big changes are coming to the sports complex.
- Comcast Spectacor is pursuing a $2.5-billion megaproject to transform the stadium district into a new neighborhood and commercial hub with restaurants, shops and hotels.

3. 🎤 LL Cool J headlines Welcome America
Cool James is coming in hot — rap icon LL Cool J is headlining this year's Wawa Welcome America Festival.
Why it matters: The free festival is Philly's biggest summer party, and it's expected to draw more than a million visitors leading to America's 250th birthday bash next year.
Driving the news: Organizers on Tuesday unveiled the lineup for the festival, which stretches over 16 days with events leading to the July 4th concert and fireworks show on the Benjamin Franklin Parkway.
- LL Cool J will be joined by Philly native and Grammy-winning artist Jazmine Sullivan.
What's new: The Phillies and Philadelphia Soccer 2026 are hosting a block party on June 22 outside Citizens Bank Park and Lincoln Financial Field.
- The celebrations aim to amp up fans ahead of next year's World Cup and the MLB All-Star games in the city.
4. News Market: 🔑 Key to Philly
🎨 Add another feather to Quinta Brunson's cap. The "Abbott Elementary" star will receive a key to the city during a May 28 dedication ceremony of a mural at Andrew Hamilton School, the West Philly elementary school she attended.
🎪 The Circadium School of Contemporary Circus has replaced the loss of a $15,000 federal grant last week through a community fundraising blitz.
- The money goes toward the production of "The Garden of Earthly Delights," set to debut May 30 at FringeArts. Tickets: $25
🚶🏽♂️ Center City's car-free streets program is expanding to Midtown Village each Sunday in June.
- From 11am-5pm, pedestrians will have the following streets all to themselves: 13th Street from Chestnut to Locust Streets; Sansom Street from 12th to Juniper; and Drury Street.
5. 🪪 Soft Real ID deadline
The Real ID deadline is today … sort of.
Why it matters: You now need a Real ID-compliant license — or another acceptable document — to board a commercial airplane in the U.S., or enter federal facilities, like courthouses.
Yes, but: Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem said Tuesday those without identification that complies with the law "will be allowed to fly."
- Noem told a Congressional panel that those who still lack an identification that complies with the Real ID law "may be diverted to a different line, have an extra step," the Associated Press reports.
Zoom in: Passengers at Philadelphia International Airport who only have a state-issued identification that's not a Real ID may be directed to a separate area or receive additional screening, TSA spokesperson Lisa Farbstein tells Axios.
- "TSA is planning accordingly to ensure no impact to wait times or TSA screening operations," she said.
Worth noting: TSA accepts more than a dozen forms of alternative IDs.
By the numbers: Pennsylvanians aren't flocking to get a Real ID.
- Only 28% of residents have signed up for one, as of May 1, per WHYY.
The caveat: Real ID is optional, which helps explain the lower adoption rate.
6. ⛳ 1 fun thing to go: Kelce and Lowry tee off
Media giant Jason Kelce and Sixers guard Kyle Lowry are taking part in the PGA Tour's Truist Pro-Am today at the Philadelphia Cricket Club in Flourtown.
How it works: Kelce, Lowry and other amateurs will team up with PGA pros.
- Tee times are 7-8:39am and noon-1:06pm.
- Tickets are still available.
What's next: The championship tourney is Thursday-Sunday, featuring Masters champion Rory McIlroy.
- Tickets are going fast.
