Longtime Reuters M&A journalist Greg Roumeliotis will depart the news agency to join Brunswick Group, Axios has learned.

• Why it matters: Roumeliotis is the latest high-profile business editor to depart journalism for a role in financial communications.

Zoom in: In June, Wall Street Journal's veteran deals editor, Dana Cimilluca joined Centerview Partners to lead communications, while Business Insider executive editor Olivia Oran joined Brunswick earlier this year. Oran previously worked with Roumeliotis at Reuters.

• But his main area of focus for more than a decade was covering private equity and M&A for the wire service and serving as both a reporter and editor for its deals team.
• His oversight included coverage of IPOs, private equity, and shareholder activism.

Details: Roumeliotis will serve as a director in Brunswick's New York office supporting M&A transactions, shareholder activism defense and IPOs, a source familiar with the hiring told Axios.
