LinkedIn has promoted Nicole Leverich to chief communications officer, Axios first learned.
Why it matters: The platform has transformed the way corporate leaders communicate, with CEO posts having increased by 23% since last year.
- Those posts receive 4x more impressions than other LinkedIn members and CEOs see a 39% surge in followers after posting, according to data shared with Axios
What she's saying: "The biggest trend I'm seeing is the voice of the C-suite taking the front seat for communications," Leverich said.
- "People want to hear from CEOs and other business leaders directly," she added.
- "We're seeing this on LinkedIn with the C-suite increasingly taking to our platform to talk directly to their key audiences about everything from the decisions they're making, to industry news, to explaining the context behind a recent announcement or acquisition."
Catch up quick: Leverich has been at the company for over a decade, most recently serving as vice president of communications.
- Prior to joining LinkedIn, she held comms roles at insights company Mixpanel, Google and Yahoo.
Details: Leverich will report to LinkedIn CEO Ryan Roslansky and will oversee global external and internal communications and social impact.
- She is succeeding Mel Selcher, who is stepping down as chief marketing and communications officer.
What's next: LinkedIn is also on the hunt for a chief marketing officer.
- Its chief operations officer, Daniel Shapero, will serve as interim CMO until the role is filled.
