We've gained several new businesses, from anticipated restaurant openings, to retail shops, each week since the start of this year.

• The one spot that has it all under one roof is Tipsy Pickle, which opened with fanfare last month in Camp North End.

What to expect: The 35,000-square-foot space holds more than 930 people total (roughly 150 outside) across its two floors. It includes:

• Six pickleball courts — four indoor and two outdoor.
• Two TrackMan golf simulators on the second level.
• Three bars — two indoor and one outdoor.
• 31 TVs.
• Four pool tables.
• Seven classic arcade games.
• Shuffleboard.
• Darts.
• A private event space.
• A Tex-Mex inspired menu and coffee from Giddy Goat.

We reported about 19 new restaurants, bars and coffee shops since the start of 2025.

• The most popular category by far (even if we don't count Tipsy Pickle) is coffee shops, we gained a handful of pop-ups, micro cafés, and large work-from-home destinations.

Here are Charlotte's newest cafés to perk you up:

• Knowledge Perk Coffee inside The Alley at Latta Arcade.
• Vavela serves Turkish coffee in University City.
• Caffeto is a Colombian coffee truck parked permanently in NoDa.
• Babaloo Coffee Club is a tiny but mega popular new spot in South End.
• Indigo Coffee is a Black-owned pop-up coffee spot in South End.
• Astoria is a trendy coffee trailer situated along the Rail Trail in South End.

Honorable mention: The Chai Window doesn't serve coffee but it'll get you your caffeine fix. Attached to jewelry and home decor shop Twenty Two West, they serve hot and iced chai, plus chai popsicles and ice cream sammies.

Reclectic, an overstock store from Urban Outfitters, Inc. (URBN), opened in Pineville last month.

Why it matters: Charlotteans left store shelves barren on opening weekend.

The latest: The buzz has died down in the last month and so have the wait times to get inside.

• Local influencer Jensen Savannah went this past weekend and said although she didn't buy anything, she did see loads of Free People stuff marked at $25.
