Twin Cities sales of N/A beer have doubled, signaling a change in how we're drinking

Here's one new data point to show that more Minnesotans are embracing the "damp" or "dry" lifestyle, and not just in January.

The big picture: Twin Cities residents spent twice as much on non-alcoholic beer this January as they did two years ago, according to data from NIQ, which tracks buying behavior.

  • The data show that while N/A beer sales are foaming nationwide, alcoholic beer sales are … well, flat.

Why it matters: Americans' attitudes toward alcohol are changing, in part because longevity and sleep are becoming bigger health priorities. As craft beer drinkers throttle back, the businesses that cater to those consumers are also taking a hit.
