As Axios' video host, I'm often reminded of how lucky we are to live in San Francisco.
The latest: In the past week, I've chatted with SF's Robot Dance Party, I've talked to strangers about my amazing Muni Christmas sweater and I was flipped in the air by the cast of Club Fugazi's Dear San Francisco.
Driving the news: I'm constantly out around town trying to find fun stories, colorful characters and reasons for you to fall in love with your city. And I'm going to start packing more of them into our weekend guides.
Thursday
🎄 Golden Gate Park Christmas tree lighting
SF Rec & Parks will flick the switch on the historic 100-foot-tall Monterey cypress outside McLaren Lodge. There will be carnival rides, games, food trucks and live entertainment.
- 4-8pm (tree lighting at 6pm). Free.
🎵 Downtown First Thursday's with Rebecca Black
It's not on a Friday but the pop star will play a DJ set on 2nd Street for the last downtown street party of the year.
- 2nd St (between Market and Howard) from 5-10pm (DJ set at 7pm). Free with RSVP.
Friday
💡 Let's Glow SF
Watch the buildings around downtown SF light up with spectacular holiday light shows. Let's Glow runs all week, but the "Countdown to Glow" party kicks things off on Friday.
- 5-7pm at the Ferry Building. Free.
Saturday
🧸 Hanukkah in Paris Toy Drive
This year's Hanukkah celebration gets a French twist in its 11th year to benefit Toys for Tots. Bring new, unwrapped toys for a good cause!
- At White Rabbit Bar. $15 with toy donation, $30 without.
👩🎤 Jean Genie's David Bowie Tribute
Let's Dance! The Jean Genie's will be playing "all the Bowie they can muster" in Bernal Heights.
- 9pm at The Lucky Horseshoe. $10.
