The headquarters of X, formerly known as Twitter, is moving out of San Francisco, where it was founded almost 20 years ago.
Driving the news: The flagship building on Market Street, which has served as the company's headquarters since 2011, will close after its employees relocate to other Bay Area cities "over the next few weeks," CEO Linda Yaccarino wrote in a memo obtained by the New York Times.
Musk said last month he would move X and SpaceX's headquarters to Texas after sparring with California government officials over the state's new gender identity law.
Yes, but: The company was already cutting office space during and following the pandemic due to remote work.
