San Antonio falls under "Practical Magic"'s spell

By the numbers: Searches for "Practical Magic"-related experiences on Eventbrite, a global events marketplace, jumped nearly 470% in August compared with the same month last year.

• Interest is accelerating ahead of the release of "Practical Magic 2." Searches during the first eight days of September had already more than doubled the total for all of September 2025, Eventbrite spokesperson Page Dudley tells Axios.

Zoom in: Michelle Fleming, owner of Good Vibes Boutique, organized a Practical Magic Shopping Event at Bracken Village, just outside San Antonio near Selma.

• The free event will spill into multiple boutiques across the property from 6 to 10pm Saturday.
• Guests can make candles, perfumes and witchy crafts in 1800s-era buildings before settling under the stars to watch the original film with popcorn, charcuterie and friends.

What they're saying: "I think it's sisterhood, and we've got to stick together more than ever in these current times," Fleming tells Axios of the movie's staying power. "It's just empowering. It's primarily women-owned businesses and we wanted to come together and support each other. It just felt so fitting."

Several themed events are brewing around San Antonio.

🛍️ Honey Mercantile's celebration Saturday features specialty drinks, treats, sales, giveaways and witchy surprises, 10am-6pm.

🧠 Schaefer Branch Library will host free "Practical Magic" trivia on Sept. 18, 4-5:30pm.

🧖‍♀️ Midnight Rayne Holistic Spa is offering an 18-step witchy and earthy facial inspired by the movies through September. $150.

🕯️ Yellow Rose Candle Co. will host a themed workshop 6-8pm Oct. 3, with drinks and a giveaway. $50.

🎥 The Tobin Center will screen the original "Practical Magic" for free at 7pm on Oct. 10.

The bottom line: The lime's in the coconut and covens throughout San Antonio are assembling.
