👋 It's Madalyn! I spent Saturday night like many San Antonians — cheering on the Spurs from a packed bar, watching the endless parade of honking cars downtown and welcoming the team home at the airport.
The vibe: It's a surreal time to be a San Antonian. I grew up watching the five Spurs championships, and now I'm witnessing another Finals run as an adult.
The whole basketball world seemed to be rooting for the Spurs to dethrone Oklahoma City. But it's one thing to cheer from afar. It's another to be here, to see strangers high-fiving in the streets and watch a city that's never stopped believing finally get rewarded.
It felt as if San Antonio had been holding its breath through years of rebuilding, lottery picks and hard losses — and finally got to exhale.
The bottom line: Tears were shed. Voices were lost. Core memories were made.
