New apartments open in San Antonio's Downtown West

Zoom in: The Continental Residences is a 290-unit building with studio, one- and two-bedroom apartments.

• Online floor plans show rent for a 554-square-foot one bedroom starting at $1,825.
• Amenities include a sixth-floor pool, an indoor-outdoor fitness center, a co-working space, local art installations and more.

Context: The apartments are part of the larger Continental Block Development, in which local developer Weston Urban renovated the historic former hotel and other nearby buildings.

• The hotel itself reopened last year with 28 furnished units focused on extended-stay rentals.

Zoom out: Weston Urban has for years been working on projects in the area around the Frost Tower, which it also developed. The developer is now promoting a new "Downtown West" district.

• The area will be home to a new Minor League Baseball stadium for the Missions by 2028, surrounded by even more new development from Weston Urban.

What's next: Move-ins will begin in the coming weeks. Prospective tenants can tour the building now.
