I'll be back for this one next year. Photo: Madalyn Mendoza/Axios
👋 Hey, it's Madalyn again! I headed to Wurstfest in New Braunfels on Sunday — the best day to go, if you ask me — and grabbed a delicious dinner.
What to try: The Reuben dog ($11). It's a hot dog twist on a classic Reuben sandwich: a juicy sausage link on a soft pretzel bun, topped with sauerkraut and Swiss cheese.
The pretzel bun was incredibly soft, the sausage was perfectly juicy and the toppings made me savor every bite.
It was also super filling — bittersweet, since I wanted to save room for other eats nearby, like Reuben nachos or a classic turkey leg.
Between the lines: Proceeds from the SJRC Texas booth help the nonprofit provide support to children and families in foster care.
It's a tasty bite that gives back.
If you go: Find it at the booth in Marketplatz (booth C-11).
Wurstfest is open through Sunday. If you go for a Sunday fun day, I hope you find it as perfectly relaxed as my friends and I did — not too packed, just plenty of room to wander, dance and enjoy the day.
