I'll definitely be back. Photo: Madalyn Mendoza/Axios
👋 Hi, it's Madalyn! Last weekend I saw a concert at Paper Tiger and grabbed a pre-show bite right outside, at Gyro Masters.
Dig in: I ordered the chicken shawarma plate ($14.99) — a generous serving of tender, perfectly spiced chicken strips over a bed of rice, topped with hot sauce.
The plate also came with a side of lettuce, tomatoes, onions, pickles, olives and feta. The mix was crisp and fresh enough to cut through the richness of the meat.
Between the lines: There was also a white sauce, and although I'm not sure what it was — I was too late for the show to ask — it added a cool, creamy flavor that mellowed the spice from the hot sauce.
The bottom line: Gyro Masters is the perfect spot for a quick, satisfying dinner before a night out.
