A K-pop sweep is taking over San Antonio's costume scene this year, if Google Frightgeist — the search engine's seasonal hub for trending costumes — is any indication.
State of play: The city's most searched costumes include Rumi, Zoey and Mira ("KPop Demon Hunters"), Labubu, and ladybug (unclear if the insect or the animated superhero).
Zoom in: San Antonio's top searches reflect newer pop culture trends that might need a little explaining.
"KPop Demon Hunters" is an animated film about a K-pop girl group that secretly fights demons. It's been buzzing online ever since its June release on Netflix.
Labubus are the creepy-but-cute (depending on who you ask) collectible plushies you've probably spotted dangling from purses and backpacks this year.
Zoom out: San Antonio kids aren't alone in their "KPop Demon Hunters" fandom. Searches for movie character costumes dominated the U.S., according to the Google map.
The bottom line: Expect fewer Disney princesses and superheroes at your door this Halloween — and more anime-inspired attire.
