San Antonio weekend events: Kids' Halloween events, comic con

The weekend's headline event is Muertos Fest at Hemisfair. More on that in our Friday newsletter. Here's what else is going on.

Friday

🌠 Grab a ticket to SPACECON, a comic con at the Freeman Coliseum running Friday through Sunday. Hours and ticket prices vary.

• Celebrity guests include Elizabeth Olsen and Brie Larson.

🍫 Take the kids to the free Trick or Treat on the Trail at Brackenridge Park, 5-8pm.

Saturday

🐱 Find your fur-ever friend at Animal Care Services' Dogtober Pet Adoption Festival at the West Side ACS campus, 11am-6pm Saturday and noon-5pm Sunday. There will be a pumpkin patch, kids' activities, music, food and more.

• Admission is free. Many pets are available for a $25 special.

🎃 Head to South Park Mall for a Halloween market with trick-or-treating and family fun, running 11am-6pm Saturday and noon-5pm Sunday.

🍻 Grab your boots for Shinerfest, a day filled with live music, food and beer at the K. Spoetzl Brewery & Distillery, noon-9:30pm.

• Tickets cost about $60 and include three beers.
