👋 Megan here, your Texas antiques correspondent.
State of play: Last weekend I made my first trek to Round Top for the famous antiques fair, one of the largest in the country.
The tiny town with a population under 100 transforms into a busy shopping destination, with a variety of sellers stretched out for miles along Highway 237.
My experience: I had a blast browsing the tents while grabbing food and drinks with my friend. We explored Blue Hills, one of the main venues, before heading toward offshoot shops.
I noticed a lack of what I'd call middle-ground antiques — many at Blue Hills were quite pricey. Other shops had affordable options that weren't always as nice.
Pro tips: Wear close-toed shoes — you're going to walk a lot, and your feet will get dusty.
Definitely pack some hand sanitizer.
What's next: The last day is tomorrow. Hours vary by vendor, and most — except the Big Red Barn — don't charge a cover.
It will return for a short period in January before the full-week fair kicks off its spring iteration in March.
