San Antonio weekend events: Film festival, food showcase

Thursday

🎬 Head to Raza Cósmica, a festival for Latino sci-fi films, running Thursday through Saturday with showings at Slab Cinema ArtHouse and the Central Library (times vary).

• Screenings are free but seating is limited. Reserve in advance.

Friday

🌽 Arrive hungry at the city's free Pueblos del Maiz showcase, 5:30-9:30pm at Pearl.

• Expect cooking demonstrations, maíz tastings and special corn dishes from local restaurants to celebrate San Antonio's status as a UNESCO Creative City of Gastronomy.
• You can also sample food from visiting chefs from Tucson, Arizona; Bergamo, Italy; and Castelldefels, Spain.

🏀 Catch a Spurs preseason game with a free watch party in the courtyard in St. Paul Square, 7-10pm.

• Surrounding bars and restaurants will have specials as part of the new "Friday Night Live at St. Paul Square" series.

Saturday

🛍️ Shop the Market Days at Los Patios for local art, handmade jewelry and more, 9am-4pm.

🌮 Prepare to dance and eat at the Barbacoa & Big Red Festival, running noon-midnight Saturday and noon-11pm Sunday at the Freeman Coliseum.
