👋 Hey, it's Megan. I enjoyed an evening at a local winery that felt so much like a Hill Country getaway, you'd never guess it's right in the city.
Dig in: Loblolly Cellars opened nearly a year ago. It takes its name from the loblolly pine trees on the family vineyard near Houston.
The winery also gets grapes from a vineyard in Hockley County near Lubbock.
The vibe: The grapes might not be from the Hill Country, but the atmosphere of the urban winery is plucked straight from there. I loved sitting among the stone walls, surrounded by towering trees and a yard out back. There was a slight breeze and live music when I was there.
What to try: A glass of the muscat ($10) is dry and crisp here. It's one of the best Texas wines I've had.
Order a fruit and cheese board ($15) to complete the evening — it's expertly put together.
📍 If you go: Loblolly Cellars is on Wurzbach Road not far from Phil Hardberger Park.
The bottom line: Your next relaxing escape isn't that far away.
