Kids run the show at Pearl's Child Entrepreneur Market

How it works: The Pearl event is part of a national network of kid-centered markets. While this is the last Children's Entrepreneur Market event at the Pearl for the summer, there are more scheduled around town.

• The rules are simple: Kids must prepare the food (if that's what they're selling), interact with customers, take orders and handle money.
• Parents must stay on-site and can help when needed, but can't interact with customers.

Zoom in: Ryder Roddam, 6, is one of the young business owners featured at next week's event. He sells magnets, painted paper fans, birdhouses and propagated plants.

What they're saying: Ryder's mother, Candace Roddam, tells Axios she's enjoyed watching his journey — from brainstorming ideas to seeing his confidence grow with each sale.

• "The very first time he sold something, his eyes lit up and he gave the biggest smile.
• "You could tell it was a special memory for him. He talked about it the whole way home," she says of Ryder's first market in June.

• Roddam says Ryder has made friends from other booths and "also has regular customers who visit him every market. It's become a little community for him."

By the numbers: Such markets have reached 368 cities like Denver, Chicago, Houston, Nashville, with 66,763 young entrepreneurs, according to the Children's Entrepreneur Market.

What's next: The Pearl event is planned for 5-8pm and will feature more than 70 young entrepreneurs. Pearl will host future Children's Entrepreneur Markets, but details have not been released.
