Why it matters: "Texas Wild — Deluxe Edition" features contemporary artists covering classic Texas songs, making it a celebration of old and new.
Flashback: The TPWF released the original album in 2023.
The latest: The deluxe edition includes the same 11 songs and two new ones: a cover of "Pretty Woman" by The Texas Gentlemen and Ruthie Foster, and Zella Day's take on the 13th Floor Elevators' "You're Gonna Miss Me."
The digital version includes another two tracks: a Max Frost cover of Beyoncé's "Irreplaceable" and Jonathan Terrell's cover of George Strait's "All My Exes Live in Texas."
Zoom in: A limited vinyl run of 1,500 copies includes a booklet featuring an essay about the wild places that inspired it. Interchangeable album covers highlight native animals like the Texas horned lizard and mountain lion.
The album is also pressed on eco-friendly, recycled pink Bio-Vinyl, which is produced using plant-based or recyclable feedstock like cooking oil.
What's next: The digital album is available to stream beginning Friday.
