Free native seeds for your San Antonio garden

👋 Megan here. If you're overwhelmed by beginning a native garden, there are free seed libraries to help you get started.

In the San Antonio area, four are listed at:

• The Mission Branch Library on the South Side
• The John Igo Branch Library on the Northwest Side
• The Schertz Library
• The Tye Preston Memorial Library in Canyon Lake

My experience: I found the seeds in a file cabinet indoors at the Mission Branch Library, toward the back.

• The idea is to return seeds in the future that come from what you plant.
• The cabinet was short on food seeds, but a librarian told me they're working to get more; and there were plentiful flowers and grasses.
