Whether it's been a while since you flew out of San Antonio International Airport (SAT) — or you just dread the hassle — a handful of new programs could help make your holiday weekend travel a bit smoother.
Why it matters: More than 145,000 passengers are expected to travel through SAT this week through Monday.
Catch up quick: From accessibility tools to perks for military families, we've rounded up what's new — or what you might've missed.
Military perks
The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) on Wednesday launched its "Serve with Honor, Travel with Ease" campaign, which offers a dedicated TSA PreCheck line for uniformed service members, along with free or discounted enrollment for their families.
- SAT is one of 10 U.S. airports to offer the amenity.
Sunflower Program
Travelers with non-visible disabilities — such as autism, ADHD or dementia — can register online for a free sunflower lanyard, which discreetly signals to staff that extra time or assistance may be needed.
- Pickup is at the information desk in Terminal A.
Reserve ahead
SAT's parking reservation system at FlySATparking.com lets travelers pre-book valet ($33/daily), short-term ($29), long-term ($16) or economy spots ($10).
- The system uses license plate recognition and allows changes or cancellations up to one hour before arrival.
SAT Pass
Non-ticketed visitors can greet or accompany travelers at the gate using the SAT Pass program.
- Apply online at least 24 hours in advance. Approved guests must present a QR code and valid ID, and complete standard TSA screening.
The bottom line: Make a game plan. SAT recommends arriving at least two hours ahead of boarding time for domestic flights and three hours early for international trips.
