A picturesque Texas summer. Photo: Megan Stringer/Axios
👋 Megan here. I finally swam at Blue Hole Regional Park in Wimberley for the first time last weekend.
Why it matters: This spring-fed swimming hole is as perfect as it looks. No editing needed.
Zoom in: The sunlight dapples through a crop of Cypress trees on clear, blue water that's spring-fed and stays 68-70 degrees year-round.
It's the coldest spring-fed water I've felt in the region outside of Barton Springs in Austin.
Plus, it's shaded.
How it works: The city of Wimberley manages reservations for Blue Hole. Tickets cost $12 for adults and $8 for children aged 4-12. There are morning and afternoon slots available.
Reservations regularly sell out. While it takes a little advanced planning, it's worthwhile to escape the crowds often seen on the Comal and San Marcos rivers.
The bottom line: Spots like this are what make a Central Texas summer worthwhile. Take advantage of it.
