Downtown San Antonio has a lot of freebies

The Alamo gets all the attention as a free destination, but it's not the only stop to explore for $0.

Why it matters: Some of the city's most authentic experiences are ones that don't cost anything at all.

The vibe: There are opportunities to experience art, history and even comedy downtown without ever opening your wallet.

Here are a few experiences:

🚘 Park for free at city-owned garages, lots and meters after 5pm every Tuesday as part of Downtown Tuesday.

🖼️ Visit museums for free, including the Briscoe Western Art Museum (first Sundays), the San Antonio Museum of Art (Tuesdays 4–7pm and Sundays 10am–noon) and Centro de Artes Gallery (always free).

📽️ Watch the San Antonio | The Saga, the beloved light show projected on San Fernando Cathedral — once it resumes following an equipment upgrade.

🔒 Add a love lock to the River Walk's version of the Parisian tradition off Market Street near Main Plaza. BYO padlock.

😂 Catch a free stand-up show at The Station Comedy Club in St. Paul Square on Fridays and Saturdays at 9pm.
