Cute coffee shop, fun drinks. Photo: Megan Stringer/Axios
š Megan here. I'm changing things up this week with a caffeine recommendation for all the coffee haters out there.
State of sips: Creative and colorful matcha drinks are increasingly making their way onto the menus of San Antonio coffee shops. They've gained enough traction that even Starbucks felt the need to jump on the matcha trend this spring.
Zoom in: I've been slow to come around, but lately I've found that an iced matcha latte with just a hint of sweetener is the perfect pick-me-up.
What to try: La Vie en Rose ($6) from Kiki's Coffee and Spirits in River North. The matcha is shaken with oat milk and a homemade rose syrup.
Kiki's isn't playing around ā I saw the barista mix this in a cocktail shaker, which made the experience that much more fun.
