How it works: The weekend will feature two major events in the downtown area — Fan Fest and the March Madness Music Festival.

Fan Fest

This ticketed event will take over the Henry B. González Convention Center, Friday through Monday. Think of it as a basketball wonderland packed with themed activities, games, celebrity appearances and autograph signings.

• Tickets are $10, but groups like Capital One cardholders, game ticketholders, and active or non-active military members can get in for free.

March Madness Music Festival

Catch big names like Chris Stapleton, Jelly Roll, Benson Boone and more at Tower Park at Hemisfair, Friday through Sunday. And the best part? It's completely free.

• Fans can start lining up for entry at 7am each day. Note that folding chairs, blankets, or other makeshift seating options aren't allowed in the park.
