Now that's a balanced meal, right? Photo: Megan Stringer/Axios
👋 Megan here. One of the most popular Tex-Mex restaurants in town is a great place to take your vegetarian and pescetarian friends.
Dig in:La Fonda on Main is a San Antonio institution that's been around since 1932, and that's for good reason.
In addition to great food, the restaurant has one of the best patios in the city and a lengthy menu of stellar margaritas.
What to eat: The poblano de queso ($17), a vegetarian version of the Chile relleno. The giant pepper comes covered in roasted vegetables and queso fresco. There's even a bonus enchilada roja on the side. It all sits atop a substantial bed of rice.
I like that I can indulge with a classic, cheesy enchilada and still enjoy a huge pile of vegetables. It's all about balance, right?
Pro tip: Make a reservation if you're going on a weekend, because this place fills up.
