Spurs star Victor Wembanyama launches City Edition jerseys with heartfelt ad

• Thursday's launch also marks the first time a Spurs player was selected to introduce the jerseys.

State of play: In the commercial, Wembanyama explains that the jersey is a symbol of the Spurs' importance in San Antonio.

• Spurs legends Manu Ginobili and George Gervin make cameos, along with fans representing the fan base from Texas to Paris.

What they're saying: "This jersey isn't mine. Sure, it's cut 4 inches longer and it has my name on the back, but it isn't mine; it's been passed down, older brother to younger. Same jersey, different names," Wemby says in the video.

• "Stitched and stitched, restitched, always giving, never owning. From El Paso to Paris — Texas and France. Nuestro colores son nuestro comunidad (our colors are our identity). Worn by millions, owned by all. Like I said, this jersey isn't mine, it's yours. But (are) you cool if I borrow it for a while?" he says.

Zoom in: The new alternate jerseys resemble last season's City Edition uniforms but feature a crystal blue color, inspired by 1970s activewear suits, instead of white.

• "Expanding upon last season's Hemisfair origin storyline, the 2024-2025 NBA City Edition theme highlights San Antonio's decades-long growth and transformation sparked by the 1968 World's Fair," the Spurs note in a press release.
• The jerseys are available at Fan Shops inside the Frost Bank Center, The Rock and online, starting at $149.99.

What's next: The Spurs will wear the jerseys during 10 home games this season, beginning with the Nov. 21 game against the Utah Jazz.

• The court design will also match the jerseys for City Edition nights.
