A taste test of Jujube, the bar at Ming's at La Cantera

What to try: The bar offers creative twists on classics, like the Sichuan 75 made with baijiu and yuzu, and an old fashioned featuring jujube syrup. Jujube is also known as the Chinese date.

• Choosing a drink was tough, but we settled on the empress orchid, a bright mix of gin, lychee, elderflower, egg white, rose water and an ube sugar rim ($14).
• We also tried the espresso snowflake ($14), which was reminiscent of an espresso martini with a touch of ube syrup — a perfect pick-me-up before a night out.
• The Ming's wings ($13) and the poppers bun, inspired by jalapeño poppers ($5.50), were absolutely amazing.

The vibe: Jujube has its own lively space within the restaurant, making it a fun spot to unwind.
