Two, one, oh : Black pasta

👋 Madalyn here with a recommendation for delicious dinner plans near the Medical Center. 

Zoom in: Mare E Monte, an Italian food gem, opened on Huebner Road earlier this year. 

What to try: The pasta al nero ($24): black pasta tossed in garlic and oil with diced pancetta, scallions and shrimp mixed in. 

• It was savory with briny shrimp, a smoky touch from the pancetta and a hint of spice from the garlic and scallions. 
• The oil tied everything together in a luxurious finish. 

The vibe: The restaurant has quickly caught on. It was packed on a recent Saturday night when I visited. 

• Despite being busy, the service was spot-on with owner Prince Blakaj checking in often to make sure everything was perfect. 

What's next: I can't wait to try the rest of the menu.
