Mayor Ron Nirenberg traded the dais for dancing in his final cameo at Gridiron.
Why it matters: Gridiron is an annual sketch comedy show produced by the San Antonio chapter of the Society for Professional Journalists, with proceeds benefiting scholarships for journalism students.
Catch up quick: Nirenberg has made it a tradition to participate in the show, which pokes fun at San Antonio's city government and happenings, through surprise on-stage appearances or acting in videos created by retired Express-News journalist and 2024 Fiesta Flambeau Parade marshal Michael Quintanilla.
- Nirenberg and Quintanilla gave the crowd the ol' razzle-dazzle in this year's installment with a tap dance-style choreography alongside cheerleaders from Our Lady of the Lake University.
