👋 Megan here, sharing another stand-by of mine — this time for a great breakfast or brunch.
Dig in:Scratch Kitchen is beloved by many, and I am no exception. While you might have enjoyed its fresh baked goods at coffee shops around town, their home kitchen is worth the visit too.
The vibe: Scratch is curled up inside a colorful, funky old house in the Alta Vista neighborhood north of downtown.
It's tiny but cozy, and outfitted with fun decor — like wooden crates affixed to the wall and filled with vintage books.
What to try: The breakfast sandwich with egg, bacon, tomato, havarti cheese and avocado on a homemade brioche bun. I got a lunchtime deal and added a small side salad and half a dessert ($11.75).
I love that when you remove the bacon, it's still a hearty meal.
