San Antonio Public Library introduces new card designs

Zoom in: The cards feature the classic Mexican card game lotería, the San Antonio skyline, cowboy boots and bluebonnets, the library's mascot, Smarty, and more.

• They were released Tuesday and will be available while supplies last.

State of play: September is Library Card Sign-up Month. San Antonio officials are hoping the new cards will encourage more sign-ups.

How it works: Library cards are free to all city and county residents.

• Bring a photo ID and proof of residency to any library branch to sign up.

Don't fret — if you already have a library card, you can still swap it out for one of the new designs.
