Military's Warrior Games coming to San Antonio for the first time

The Warrior Games are coming to San Antonio in 2026 and 2028, bringing together wounded, ill and injured military service members and veterans in a series of fun competitions.

Why it matters: The adaptive sporting events help military members and veterans in their recovery while connecting them with others with similar experiences.

2026 will mark the first time they will be held in Military City USA.

Flashback: San Antonio was previously scheduled to host the games in 2020, but they were canceled because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

What they're saying: "We know that this competition is about more than just athletics," Jenny Carnes, president of San Antonio Sports, said in a statement.

"We look forward to celebrating sport as a means of empowering individuals, giving confidence, strengthening community and being an integral part of the recovery journey."
