San Antonio is the No. 1 aging-friendly city in the US

What they did: Real estate platform Opendoor analyzed its more than 50 markets to determine which had the highest number of homes with features beneficial to people 55-plus, then ranked them in a top 10 list.

By the numbers: In San Antonio, 57% of homes have a single story.

Zoom out: Texas cities claimed the top three spots, with Houston and Dallas ranked No. 2 and No. 3, respectively.

Between the lines: San Antonio's 65-and-up population is growing faster than the national average, increasing by over 11.7% from 2020 to 2023, compared to 9.4% nationally, census data shows.
