Daiso's first San Antonio store opening this week

Zoom in: The 5,661-square-foot store will offer a wide range of everyday items — many that you don't normally see in the U.S. — priced anywhere from $1.75 to $15.25.

• Daiso sells Japanese-inspired home decor, stationery, food, crafting supplies, pet toys, camping gear and much more.

The big picture: Texas is part of Daiso's national expansion strategy.

• The company plans to have more than 100 locations in the Lone Star State by 2030, up from about 25 now.

What they're saying: "San Antonio-based Daiso customers have shown us through our online business and social media their desire for us to have more stores within the state," John Clarke, chief development officer for Daiso USA, said in a statement.

On Saturday and Sunday, the first 100 customers in Alamo Ranch to spend at least $30 will get a bonus goodie bag.

• Hours are 9am-9pm Monday-Saturday and 10am-8pm Sunday.

What's next: Daiso has at least two more San Antonio stores planned, one on the Far West Side and another on the Northwest Side.
