Folks passing through security at San Antonio International Airport are filing more complaints, per data from the Transportation Security Administration.

Why it matters: Air passengers are reporting complaints at a higher rate than before the pandemic, according to an analysis by The Data Liberation Project.

By the numbers: Travelers filed 16.4 complaints per 100,000 passengers at SAT in January compared to a rate of 7.5 during the same month in 2019.

Zoom in: The analysis found that travelers grumbled the most about SAT's expedited passenger screening program (or TSA Precheck), registering 569 complaints from January 2023 through January 2024.

  • Other top complaints were over customer service (52) and screening (33).

Between the lines: The airport is in the era of record-breaking travel seasons and is adding new routes including the inaugural direct European flight.

  • Construction on a new terminal is also expected to start next year.
