The sneaker scene in San Antonio is about to level up with the arrival of Kicking It, a popular Austin export.

What to expect: The San Antonio branch will feature not only a sleek sneaker boutique but also an adjacent bar area, creating a unique "community-based sneaker social" experience, general manager Colin Teagle tells Axios.

Like at the Austin store, San Antonians will be able to shop brands like Nike, Jordan, Adidas, Mitchell & Ness, Honor the Gift, New Era, The Hundreds, Vans and more.

  • Teagle says he noticed that San Antonio has a few vintage shops that specialize in secondary shoe sales, but he felt there was a need for a place where people can buy at retail price.

Yes, but: Unlike the Austin store, which only serves beer and wine, the San Antonio version will have a full bar.

Flashback: The store announced the San Antonio expansion last month on Instagram, which was met with a wave of excitement from local shoppers.

  • "San Antonio's been needing this," one person responded.

What they're saying: "I'm just looking forward to being part of the community down there and making a positive contribution," Teagle says.

What's next: Stay tuned for the official opening date announcement, which Teagle hints will be shared on Kicking It's Instagram page, with the location set to be around the North Star Mall area.
