Corinne, a new brunch spot, is now open in downtown San Antonio.

State of play: The restaurant, which opened at the newly renovated Plaza Hotel in January, has a vibrant yet tranquil atmosphere. Unlike other buzzy brunch places of its caliber, it feels relaxed, with tucked-away booths and natural contemporary design elements.

  • It was the perfect spot to start a slow Sunday morning.

Yes, but: Corinne serves lunch and dinner in addition to its morning menus.

We tried the grilled chicken tinga, banana pancakes and a nonalcoholic melon and berry drink.

  • The chicken tinga was interesting because it's similar to a stacked version of chilaquiles as it was served with a fried egg. The stacking method kept the tostadas crispier rather than being smothered by the toppings.
  • The banana pancakes were fluffy, and the powdered sugar made it feel like a skip ahead to dessert.

What's next: Anaqua Garden Bar is also located in the hotel and will likely become a hot spot as the weather warms up.
