Halloween season is here, and it's a perfect time to go see the McNay Art Museum's special exhibit based on "The Nightmare Before Christmas."
Zoom in: The exhibit features puppets, sets and props used in Tim Burton's "The Nightmare Before Christmas." You can see the original tilted bed, Oogie Boogie, Jack Skellington and more.
- On view alongside the movie art are surreal, scary and weird works from other artists that fit in perfectly with the movie's vibe. There's everything from skeletons driving a car to monsters wearing masquerade-like masks.
Plus, the gallery is decorated for the occasion: Christmas lights hang from the ceiling and Christmas trees sit in the corners.
- There are children's activities, including making their own weird characters.
Cost: $20 for adults. Free for children up to age 12.
Pro tip: The exhibit has proven popular enough that you'll have to make a reservation online.
- Visiting around Halloween is fun, but it will remain on view through Jan. 14.
