The Krewe of Dolly participated in Midsummer Mardi Gras for the first time over the weekend and is planning to hit the streets again soon in honor of its namesake.
The big picture: The krewe says it is holding a second-line Saturday for Dolly and will release details about the time and location this week.
- Fleurty Girl has been raising money for Dolly's Imagination Library with sales of a "Legendolly" shirt. Owner Lauren Haydel says the store has raised $40,000 so far.
- The Krewe of Dolly funds the program in Orleans Parish and there's a waitlist to participate.
- Children in the program get free books monthly through age 5. One of the first books is Dolly's favorite: "The Little Engine That Could."
