Dolly Parton, the queen of country music, left her mark on New Orleans through her music, literacy efforts and one-of-a-kind style.
The big picture: She had a soft spot for New Orleans, too.
- "I just think it's a fascinating city, probably the most fascinating city in all the United States," Parton told The Times-Picayune in 1988.
