Robin Barnes to perform on Louisiana's 2027 Rose Parade float

Why it matters: It's the sixth time Louisiana has had a float in the California parade.

The big picture: This year's float theme is "Bienvenue en Louisiane."

• It will feature a large pelican surrounded by Mardi Gras colors, along with alligators, crawfish, Spanish moss and elements inspired by the charm of the French Quarter, a press release says.
• The float will be decorated with about 25,000 roses, orchids, coconuts and other natural materials to align with the parade's rules.
• The state's previous floats (see them) have won several awards.

Zoom in: "I can not tell you how special this is," Barnes said in an announcement video Thursday.

• Barnes released her debut album this summer.
• Last week, she said she was being treated for an aggressive tumor in her leg.
